DO NOT TAKE THIS AS A FINAL LIST.
THE PROSPECTUS (AT A GLANCE)
At
the very onset, it would be fair to state that we at "BPS" as
we are fondly called, maintain a strict standard of Discipline. This may
conjure up visions of "Oliver Twist", but, on the contrary,
our "discipline" is based on the principle of occupation &
direction. In short, our students are carefully consciously &
sub-consciously, drilled in punctuality, cleanliness, PH, & the
myriad other components of a smooth-running Institution & a well-
bred child. Corporal punishment is not encouraged.
Prospective Parents must appreciate the need & ultimate effects of a
well-disciplined outlook on the part of their ward/s. A card system
prevails:
1. Yellow
Card: 1st Warning
2. Green Card: for recalcitrant &
recurring acts of defiance to regulations & Protocol
3. Pink
Card: Notice for Withdrawal of the recalcitrant Student.
…
For the sake of Uniformity of Uniform hues, material & costs, it is
prerequisite for Parents to avail of "Uniform Items" from a
stipulated dealer. (This will continue till we are in a position to
issue such above-mentioned Items from the School itself.
UNIFORM & MISC. ITEMS FOR BOARDERS
To maintain a fully "Public School" outlook &
standard, the dress-code particularly for the Boarders is as generally
outlined below:
There are at least 4 sets of school uniform, 3 sets
of Games uniform, 3 sets Kurta Pajama, (Summer evening dress), 3 sets
Blue Jeans (Winter Evening dress) with sweaters, a Track suit, Karate
dress, Blazers, sweaters, black shoes, Track shoes, Keds, Night suits,
Bed sheets, a mattress, blankets, a quilt….well this list is actually
quite a detailed one & clearly tabulated in our school Prospectus.
The above is just a birds eye view of the clothes list & items such
undergarments etc. are also required, along with Toilet & sundry
items. In short, the above list is not to be taken by the visitor to
this site as a full & final list in any way.
GAMES, ACTIVITIES & KARATE
The above are all compulsory for any Boarder seeking
admission in this school. Participation in all is a must. However,
selection in a House Team for any activity is based on Merit and the
House Masters selection is considered & respected as Final. Karate
is mandatory, no exemption is possible on any account except temporary
illness. The same applies to the other games & disciplines.
HEALTH, ACCOMODATION & FOOD
The BIRLA HOSPITAL is just 1 Km east of the School
along the Highway on the way to Tatisilwai. The Hospital has all
facilities a good Hospital should have, such as X-Ray, Pathology,
Cardiac & other Emergency equipment. To the West, at Namkom proper
& just 2 Km away, there are more than 6 clinics run by various
Medical Practitioners. There, Dr. S.K. Ghosh is our main Doctor whilst
at the Birla Hospital, Dr. Alam (Child Specialist) takes care of any
students of ours needing Medical attention.
Our Hostels are roomy, airy & always clean & tidy. Double
Decker beds are provided but a 6' X 2.5' Mattress must be brought by the
students along with other requisite bed linen. A Matron & Warden are
present around the clock to maintain the standards set by the Management
& to come into action in case of any Emergency. The Principal &
his family reside on the campus as well. A vehicle is always available
for any contingency, so is a generator in case of power problems.
Our Food is our main concern & much care is taken over the
diet, quality & quantity of the food we serve. Milk is a part of
every Breakfast, & Mutton, Fish & Chicken are served once a week
each. Vegetarian students are also catered for with equal care & no
limit is placed on the amount a child wants to eat, unless abnormally
so. In fact, students who don't eat well are supervised so that the eat
at least all that is served to them initially.
MISCELLANEOUS
Routine: Boarders rise at 5:30 am, summers & 6: am winters.
They then go for a morning jog in the surrounding rural area for about
40 minutes. Girls do calisthenics or play Basket Ball or some game at
this time too. Washes and dressing for breakfast follows and after
breakfast (8:00 am), all go for Assembly. School begins at 8:15 am.
There is a break at about 11:00 am when Day Scholars have their Tiffin
whilst Boarders have their fruit & personal Tuck. School resumes
after 20 minutes & classes end at 2:05 pm. Boarders proceed for
Lunch at this time. From 2:40 pm to 3:40 pm we have Tutorial Classes (No
extra charge), followed by Games & then Tea. Baths, Recreation &
evening prep follow in succession. Then there's Dinner, a night prep
& finally bed. Our Boarders are always occupied & supervised.
DISCIPLINE
The mainstay of any organisation or Institution is always
its Discipline. The Prospective Parent must therefore appreciate our
concept in the best interests of their ward/s under our care. Parents
must themselves therefore follow visiting timings & Parent Teacher
meetings meticulously. We do not tolerate unruly & indisciplined
children, & if we fail to control such a child we immediately advise
the parent for withdrawal, again in the better interest of the child.
Last of all, we are not magicians. Just a hard-working team of
Educationists, giving the best of our ability to promote a healthy
growth for your child. Some children learn fast whilst others remain
slow. We work with all, but cannot guarantee a 90% plus child every
single time… Your cooperation, patience & mutual trust is
earnestly solicited to make the equation work.
Sincerely
R

(Principal & Director)
